“Suoi sudditi, perché battezzati”. Con queste parole, il 25 ottobre 1958, la Corte d’appello di Firenze assolveva il vescovo di Prato , che aveva denigrato pubblicamente due giovani, da poco sposati civilmente.
Il 25 ottobre 2008, a cinquant’anni di distanza, l’UAAR organizza a Day of sbattezzo. 'Sbattezzo' means cancellation of the civil effects of baptism, which is the basic right established by a decision of the Authority for the privacy of no longer being considered by the state as "subjects" of the Church, "obedient" and "subservient" to the hierarchies Church.
The reasons to leave the Catholic Church may be a number consistent with their principles, why protest discrimination as gays, women or researchers claim their own identity as an atheist or agnostic. Or simply intellectual honesty to say "there are more than yours." The

There are two ways to participate in the day of sbattezzo:

Through clubs / contacts UAAR of Ancona, Bergamo, Genoa, Lecce, Modena, Pescara, Ravenna, Rimini, Siena, Trento, Venice, Verona, Vicenza, and also those of Bologna, Cagliari , Milan , Naples, Padua , Roma, Torino and Verbania , Treviso, who have published specific web pages devoted to the event. If you live in a province other than those listed above, or who resides in one of these provinces but wants sbattezzarsi individually, must download the form published on our website at www.uaar.it/laicita/sbattezzo/sbattezzo- module-to-parroco.rtf , compile it, make a photocopy of your ID card and send everything to the parish of baptism October 25 by registered mail (or in previous days, if that day can not). It should then send (much better if before 25 October) an e-mail to segretario@uaar.it confirming the project: segretario@uaar.it reply confirming that the applicant had counted on the list (so anonymous and confidential).
